Where to watch every movie in the Friday the 13th franchise

At Christmas, you open presents. At Thanksgiving, you eat turkey. And on Friday the 13th, you watch 3 p.m. Friday 13 movies. There’s nothing quite like watching a group of lustful 1980s-style teenagers get skewered by a murderous maniac twice a year. This formula led the Friday 13 movies to become one of horror’s most infamous franchises, and watching all the movies in a row (x10) is a lesson in movie history in itself. The good news is that you no longer need to run to Blockbuster to get the VHS tapes of every movie because they are all streaming.

So is Friday 13 streaming on Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon or Hulu? Kind of. Your best bet is to subscribe to AMC+, as it carries most (but not all) of the Friday the 13th movies, while later films in the franchise are on other streaming services. Let us help you sort it all out so you can enjoy your Jason Voorhees marathon doing what he does best.

(Note: We would have included the large Friday the 13th: the seriesa 1987 supernatural TV show unrelated to the movie franchise, but sadly it’s not airing anywhere as far as we can tell.)

Jason Voorhees

The original movie that started it all. Set in 1979, it established the formula that many others would follow: camp counselors who had sex would be murdered in gruesome ways.

It’s probably not a spoiler to say this, but if you’re particularly spoilerphobic, look away. The first sequel was the first film in which Jason Voorhees was actually the murderer. Like the original, Camp Crystal Lake’s gendered camp counselors are chosen one by one. If it’s not broken…

Can you believe it took THREE FILMS for this movie franchise to arrive at the iconic hockey mask? Well, it’s finally here, as an injured Jason tracks down a group of youngsters who are vacationing at a house near Camp Crystal Lake. Turns out that was a bad idea for a vacation. It’s the only one Friday 13 movie released in 3D, which probably made the crossbow kill pretty cool.

One of cinema’s most egregious lies in the name of this film, “Part IV” wasn’t even close to the final chapter, even though it was once intended to be. It is also considered one of the best films in the franchise. As for the plot: guess.

Part of that fresh start was a new murderer wearing a hockey mask who wasn’t Jason, which is perhaps why this is considered such a stench. No Jason? No thanks. A new start is also well known for its nudity, sex, and drug use, so if that’s what you’re looking for, go for it.

At this point, everyone has looked at the ridiculousness of the series and jason lives added lots of nice camp at Camp Crystal Lake. Jason has become an undead, supernatural killing machine and the meta-humor has kept things light, making him a fan favorite.

Inspired by the silliness of the previous film, The new blood sees Jason fighting a girl with telekinetic powers. Alright, of course.

Five years after The Muppets began, Jason seeks to finish what they apparently couldn’t. Tracking down a group of teenagers on a boat bound for New York, Jason steps out of his comfort zone to face his greatest fear: Times Square in the late 90s! Rooting for Jason in this one.

A kind of spoiler in the title! Most of the movie is Jason body-hopping as his mind possesses others around Camp Crystal Lake. This was really meant as a prequel appetizer to a future film in the franchise, Freddy versus Jason.

Depending on how you look at it, it’s either the low point or the greatest moment of the series. Jason went to New York and to hell, so what was left? Space. Cryogenically frozen for over four centuries, Jason is defrosted and kills future teenagers as a cyborg on Earth 2. It’s not streaming on any subscription service, but it should be!

freddieFreedy Krueger convinces Jason Voorhees to come back from the dead, once again, and then the two titans of horror do battle. Simple! It was the wet dream of Friday 13 franchise and it finally happened in real life. It was the series’ highest-grossing box office, grossing $116 million.

It’s reboot time! A guy (Jared Padalecki) goes to Camp Crystal Lake to search for his sister, who has been captured by Jason. Spoiler: People are dying.
