Cardinals lose veteran receiver AJ Green to knee injury to Rams

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver AJ Green did not return to Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams after suffering a knee injury late in the second quarter.

Green went for a catch with the Cardinals in the two-minute offense and got Kyler Murray’s pass out of his incomplete mask. He fell to the ground and grabbed his knee, then slowly walked off the field with a coach.

Green had two no-hold targets on Sunday and came off the field for first-quarter treatment but came back. Last Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, he grabbed the game-tying two-point conversion after regulation time expired. , after being unable to fire a few pitches before that.

Green has been a necessary presence on offense with that experience and the fact the Cardinals didn’t suspend receiver DeAndre Hopkins early in the season. The Cardinals turned to Andy Isabella to replace him in the second half on Sunday.

The Cardinals also lost starting left guard Justin Pugh for a few plays in the first half with an elbow injury, but Pugh returned for the second half. He was briefly replaced by Max Garcia.
